The SIGE 2026 Course for Young Investigators aims to provide a high-level educational and scientific experience for early-career gastroenterologists, promoting a modern approach to digestive diseases grounded in pathophysiology, translational research, and personalized care.
The course is structured around the concept that understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms is essential to improve clinical reasoning, refine therapeutic choices, and develop innovative strategies for patient management. Key topics span gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatic diseases, with a focus on emerging paradigms such as precision medicine, microbiota-driven interventions, and the integration of nutrition into clinical decision-making.
The educational model emphasizes active learning through interactive lectures, clinical challenges, and group-based discussions, fostering critical thinking and encouraging young investigators to engage in scientific debate and collaborative project development. A central objective is to strengthen the SIGE Young Investigator community by facilitating networking, mentorship, and shared research perspectives.
The collaboration with AISP further enriches the program, reinforcing the pancreatic track and enhancing the multidisciplinary and translational identity of the course.
